Upcoming Show: Deerhunter and Times New Viking with Disappears
November 16th, 2008 at High Noon Saloon; 9PM

Deerhunter describe themselves as "ambient punk," though they incorporate a wide range of genres, including noise rock, art rock, ambient, and post-punk. This band has made it through line-up changes and the death of a band member. Their live performances are known to always leave audiences polarized, and have been referred to by Karen O of Yeah Yeah Yeahs in NME as bordering on “a religious experience.” Deerhunter is coming to Madison and touring around a critically acclaimed release titled, "Microcastle". It is currently (has been for while) on my playlist and will probably be on the top ten for the year. There was a lot of buzz about Deerhunter couple years back with their indie psych-rock release "Cyrptograms" from Pitchfork and and countless other critics.

Well that buzz is back and they will be here at the High Noon with Times New Viking and Disappears.  Times New Viking is a lo-fi indie rock band from Columbus, OH. The line up consists of guitarist Jared Phillips, drummer Adam Elliott, and Beth Murphy on keyboards. Murphy and Elliott share vocal duties. This is another great act in this top notch indie-rock bill. MMR last caught TNV when they came through town last time opening for Yo La Tengo. They are known for their very loud, rough sound.  Also opening this evening's event will be Disappears.
