DJ Derrick Carter
March 8, 2008 at The Majestic - by Ankur Malhotra

You missed it! And if you were there, you are probably still grooving to the beats from Saturday night!. DJ Derrick Carter was in the house (that is The Majestic, in Madison, Wisconsin) to bring the house down "Chicago House" style. What a treat for the 300+ party people packed onto the dancefloor ... and at times, the stagefloor! I think Mr. Derrick Carter's mom was onto something when she heard her son playing the "boompty boomp sh*t", despite the fact that she prefered her son to use his voice. In any case, we are grateful to DJ Derrick Carter for the beats, bleeps and quirky other treats he has bestowed upon electronic music lovers around the world (and dare I say not listening to his mom).

We here in Madison are not as fortunate as Milwaukee, Chicago or Detroit when it comes to world class DJ performances. The last time I was had so much fun dancing to electro/techno in Madison was at a show by Richie Hawtin back in 2000 at the Cardinal Bar (or was it 2001?). Thank you to Mr. Derrick Carter for breaking a personal seven year spell and cheers to Wyatt from MC Audio for making it happen and to the fine folks who run the Majestic for hosting a a thumping party! - Ankur
