I’m so fired up to see Pavement in Chicago at Pitchfork Music Festival this summer. I thought I would post a video of ”Grounded”, which happens to be one of my favorite Pavement tracks. This version is an excerpt from the highly recommended ”The Slow Century” DVD, recorded at The Academy, Manchester, UK 11/19/99

In January, Dead Oceans introduced you to a wholly new sound from White Hinterland, a progressive, washy R&B, with a playful, dubby backbone. T’was no fluke, fellow music enthusiast. With Kairos, Casey Dienel and musical partner Shawn Creeden have gracefully dived headlong into a pool of gorgeous, cerebral, danceable sounds.
The latest taster jam from Kairos is “No Logic,” which, as Gorilla vs. Bear said today, is “further evidence of Casey Dienel’s unexpected but seamless transformation into seductive minimal R&B/pop star.” And believe it or not, the herky-jerky-dub of “No Logic” is actually built around an acid-fried ukulele melody. Listen close and you’ll hear it in there. And soon, you will be able to see the live construction of the song, as White Hinterland heads out on a North American tour with Dosh, who will be in support of his own wicked new record.
