Cowboy Junkies: March 26th @ The Majestic

The Cowboy Junkies were in town last month to play to a sold-out, seated-only show at the Majestic. A chilly wind did not keep the die-hard fans from lining up at the door hours before the performance, ready to rush in and grab their seats. This was my first Cowboy Junkies show and I was pumped up (if that would be an apt word to use to describe a Junkies performance, which are decidedly low-key and moody affairs). With a last minute cancellation of the opening act, the Junkies had the stage to themselves and got off to an early start with Blue Guitar, a favorite track from their 1998 album Miles From Our Home. And the song set the stage for the rest of their performance which included songs old and new, including a few covers by the likes of Neil Young thrown in. Two encores later and with a signed copy of The Trinity Sessions (vinyl, of course) had me smiling at night’s end. Here are some pictures from a wonderful show!
