Billy Branch and his harp were in the house Tuesday evening for
another wonderful evening of the blues. He has been singing
and playing the harmonica in the Chicago blues style since
the late 1960's and was part of the Willie Dixon led Chicago
Blues All Stars. He went on to found his own group The Sons
of the Blues, along with Lurrie Bell and Freddie Dixon (sons
of Carey Bell and Willie Dixon), and hence the name of the
group. Except for him, that is, as he laughingly bantered
with the audience during his show. Accompanying Billy Branch
were Bruce
Alford on bass, Don Rembert on guitar, Joey B. Banks
on drums and A.J. Love on guitar. Local blues diva, Queenie
McCarter Wade also joined in for a couple of songs after
being called on by Mr. Billy Branch. Here are some pictures
from the show. Enjoy!
