2009 :: New York City's Electronic Music Festival
September 5-6,
2009, Randall's Island Park, New York City, NY - by Ankur

This was the first
year that New York was host to a Electronic and Dance
Music festival of this magnitude, with 26,000 people
streaming into the festival grounds over the Labor Day
weekend. Organized by Made Events (known for bringing
together top talent at parties at WMC Miami and elsewhere),
the festival brought some of the world's best
DJ's into the Big Apple to dazzle and wow party people
from across the globe with the beautiful, crazy, and
eccentric sounds of techno. My two days at the festival
were spent for the most part at the Sunday
School Hilltop Tent - home to the Detroit sound, minimal, techno, dark
house... my favorite kind of dance music. And what a
lineup! I caught sets by Paco Osuna, Luciano, Marco Carola,
Deadmau5, and Francois K on the first day with more treats
the following day - Audion, Adam Beyer, Steve Bug, Victor
Calderone and Richie Hawtin. Here's a glimpse of the
happenings from a weekend in the big city. Enjoy! |
