Octave One playing for their first time ever in New York
City! The brothers (Lenny and Lawrence Burden, along
with revolving band members Lynell, Lorne and Lance Burden)
have been monsters of the Detroit techno and dance scene
for over two decades now and seeing them live always
reaffirms their stature as one of pioneering "second wave" groups
coming out of the Detroit techno scene. I have been fortunate
enough to see them play in Detroit and was excited to
catch their set at The Bunker - THE place for techno
in New York City/Brooklyn. The timing worked out just
right as I had flown into the city Friday night for the
Electric Zoo weekend - NYC's Electronic Dance Music festival.
A bangin' set that could have lasted longer than the
2am-3am slot the duo was ! For those of you not familiar
with the duo, check out their MySpace page
for some killer tracks.
Hrdvsion opened for Octave One. Hardvsion is the brother
of Mathew Jonson of Wagon
Repair (Canada) fame... a groundbreaking
label releasing the best in electronic music including
tracks by Adam Beyer, Coobblestone Jazz, Glacier/Pier
Bucci, and more.
