Wayne
"The Train" Hancock was back in town, this
time at a usual and familiar jaunt - The Crystal
Corner on Willy St. And he was on full steam, backed
by a four piece band that included Madison-born Joel
Paterson on guitar, and fueled by tracks from his
recently released album Viper
of Melodies.
Judging from this last performance, the sharpness
and wit were in full bloom this glorious spring evening,
and had fans of swing, rockabilly and the jukebox packing
the floor. The Kristy Larson group opened with a pleasing
mix of traditional American music that had the old and
not-so-old swinging to the tunes. Here are a mix of pictures
from the show that I hope convey some of the immediacy
and freshness from a night of 'old-time' music.
