I chanced upon
Future Rock earlier this year when they
shared the bill with Lotus at the High
Noon. I enjoyed their set so much that I went straight to
the merchandise table and bought their self-released debut
Sugar Coated Bullets. (My favorite place to buy
CDs is always at the show.)
So I'm excited to hear that this Chicago
trio is about to release their latest studio effort (GEARS)
on October 2nd just days before playing here again with
EOTO.
Those
who've seen EOTO perform rave about them,
too. EOTO is comprised of two familiar faces in the jam-band
scene, Jason Hann and Michael Travis (both percussionists
from String Cheese Incident). As EOTO, Travis handles the
tonal elements, playing bass, guitar, keyboards, as well
as hand percussion and live mixing. Meanwhile, Hann plays
the drum kit, percussion and sampler. Hann states, "We use
gear as a way of being able to do all of this live with
just the 2 of us and no pre-recorded tracks, but our goal
is to be able to create new club music on the spot and put
it down as quickly as if you were dropping a needle on the
latest new track - without stopping the dance flow all set
or all night."
Personally, my favorite part of a SCI
set was always when the band would get into a deep breakbeat
groove.
I highly recommend this show!
Hope to see you there. . . Mister Bill!
BTW - Our Chicago friends will want to
know that they can catch Future Rock and EOTO
on Sat. Oct. 6th at The Abbey Pub! Showtime is 9:00P ($10
Adv. $12 Dos 18+)
