I will occasionally post a new playlist here so that you can get an idea of my musical tastes - and with the hope that you will discover something new to you that strikes your fancy.
As always, I encourage you to buy music you love in lossless formats for the best listening!
These simple music players allow us to stream very good quality mp3 files (320kbps) without long delay. So if your computer has a decent soundcard and speakers or headphones, this should be an excellent audio stream! Enjoy . . .
I've been a fan of Brian Eno since the late 70's. This track is from his very enjoyable 2005 release.
Ankur turned me on to Nightmares on Wax early in our friendship. I've got a bunch of their recordings now and they are all good.
Juan Atkins performing at DEMF 2007 as Model 500 - 'nuff said
Hot Chip always gets me grooving. Turn it up.
Stereophonics were recently at the Metro in Chicago. I heard the show was great - as expected - and packed. Wish I could have made it. This track is for Todd and his crew that did!
Dr. Dog - Fiery Furnaces - Califone - Joseph Arthur - Stephen Malkmus . . . All these bands performed in Madison over the past year or so. Were you there? I hope so. . . . These tracks are pretty trippy - so I'd put on the headphones.
Fred recommended that we go see Richard Buckner at High Noon Saloon a year or so ago. I had never heard of him, but Fred knows my tastes and rarely steers me wrong. Buckner was touring behind Meadow and was backed up by The Six Parts Seven. It was a superb marriage and a memorable show.
When I saw the movie Broken Flowers, I thought the soundtrack was fantastic, and I was particulary taken by the several tracks by Mulatu Astatqé. This track will help you understand.
I'm a latecomer to Jay Farrar's band, Son Volt - also by way of Fred - and really like 'em. Got to see the band at Lollapalooza in 2007. . .
