Black Bananas at High Noon Saloon 05.21.2012
|My friends know that I’ve been anxiously awaiting the upcoming appearance by Kurt Vile + The Violators at High Noon Saloon since it was announced. But over the past couple months I’ve gotten equally excited to see Black Bananas, who will be opening the show.
Black Bananas is the latest incarnation of Jennifer Herrema (formerly fronting Royal Trux and RTX). She is joined by long-time collaborators: Brian McKinley, Kurt Midness, Jaimo Welch, and Nadav Eisenman. Together they are “set for the next all-inclusive rock and roll crusade, the one that includes even and especially all the shit you don’t like, woven into all the shit you can’t live without.”
I’ve been listening to their new release Rad Times Express IV (Drag City) for a couple months now. Psychedelic heavy metal garage rock. I dig it. (Thanks to Juan Wick, who brought this album to my attention.)
Here’s something to pique your interest:
Needless to say, get there early and catch Black Bananas on Monday, May 21st at High Noon Saloon. It should be a Rad Time!
(They will also playing Lincoln Hall in Chicago on May 20, and the 400 Club in Minneapolis on May 22.)
