Other Info | This two night event kicks off Friday... which we will miss but we are keen on catching the acts on Saturday.. especially Peter Wolf Crier, Carter Tanton, Caveman and Juniper Tar... other acts for an evening packed with music include Carey and Brooklyn based quartet Caveman. Carter, who used to call himself Tulsa, toured with The War on Drugs this fall behind his acclaimed album Freeclouds via Western Vinyl. He was recently featured on NPR's Song of the Day, for his single "Murderous Joy," following his two separate pieces this fall as the #1 artist of NPR World Cafe's Next 20. His latest album Freeclouds has been highlighted by SPIN, Pitchfork, Blackbook, MTV Hive, Under the Radar, RCRD LBL and many others and will be given a spin on very own WORT 89.9FM this Friday's 8 o'clock Buzz... Peter Wolf Crier's sound encompasses a Midwestern melancholy and desolation yet carries a quick beating and pulsating pop lushness... Caveman is made up of five New York natives: lead singer/songwriter Matt Iwanusa, who also adds percussion and drums to the band on record and live on stage, Guitarist Jimmy “Cobra” Carbonetti, who designs his hand-made Cobra Guitars from scratch, drummer and native Manhattanite Stefan Marolachakis, bassist Jeff Berrall, and Sam Hopkins on synths. The band loves to play live, and after touring with Here We Go Magic and The War On Drugs, they do a short Midwest tour before a Europe tour and SXSW. Juniper Tar features three tightly woven guitars, Gram Parsons styled songs, bleary slowcore crescendos and more... firmly entrenched in the indie-rock roots of American music. |
