Movement After Parties Part 2

And the hits keep coming. The parties keep rolling in. Here are a couple more events of note this weekend after the main event drops those final beats.

Sunday: No Way Back 10th Anniversary @ Tangent Gallery 715 E Milwaukee Ave, Detroit

For the last decade, No Way Back has taken the art of acidified after parties to a whole new level. Their dedication to acid fueled mayhem has evolved and emerges this year with a fantastic line-up that runs from 11 Sunday night till noon on Monday, letting each artist delve deeply into their unique bag of tricks to celebrate the artistry of true techno.

There are a few artists who I can’t wait to see display their craft in this unique and mesmerizing venue. At the top of the list is the impeccable Derek Plaskaiko, a master behind the decks who creates sets that are unique, evolving, and classic all at once. This party is being thrown by Interdimensional Transmissions and label founder BMG will be on deck to help define the psychedelic foundations of what his label is all about. And then there’s the incredible Mike Servito to add that groove and funk to the slick sounds cascading out of the speakers all night long.

This party has a history and a pedigree that screams for recognition and delivers year in and out.

Sunday: Drumcode @ the Masonic Temple Fountain Ballroom 550 Temple St Detroit

I’ve been a massive fan of Drumcode for longer than I’m comfortable admitting and Adam Beyer has been driven to the massive booms of deep techno for the duration. This may be the biggest after party on Sunday night and the vibe will certainly deliver. Beyer carefully curates his lineup for quality, not quantity. There are only two other DJs performing with Beyer, Nicole Moudaber and Keith Kemp, with each given the space and control to explore their selections and skills deftly without   a  clock ticking in their ears. I’ve witnessed extended sets from Beyer and have seen firsthand how he crafts the vibe and lifts the floor to new heights. This may not be one of the most underground parties of the weekend, but it has the pedigree and prominence to give you the fuel your soul needs.
