Possible End for LCD Soundsystem in 2010

There’s a new LCD Soundsystem album due in 2010, and James Murphy has been speculating over the band’s future in an interview with NME.  He claims that the tour to promote the record “should probably be the last one,” but didn’t offer a clear guide on what his future plans are.

“I don’t like saying things like that because I realize people see them as proclamations of some sort, which is not how I feel at all,” he said. “When I’m working on [a record] it makes sense to think of it as the last you’ll ever do because then you make it good.” He also claimed the new record is “definitely better than the last two.”

Murphy carefully added a disclaimer to his thoughts above, saying: “I know I said that last time and things changed, but I don’t like to repeat myself.” The record is tentatively scheduled for an April release, and those tour dates Murphy refers to have yet to be announced.
