Those Darlins – Upcoming show and Screws Get Loose
|The Drive-by Truckers have turned us on to many great opening acts when they’ve past through Madison & Milwaukee; Ryan Bingham, The Felice Brothers and now Those Darlins. On October 23rd, at the Majestic Theatre, Those Darlins will be hitting the stage opening for Drive-By Truckers.
Their garage rock sounds are reminiscent of The Ramones meets 13th Floor Elevators with classic country swagger (Johnny Cash, Hank Williams and Waylon Jennings). As for their live show, the reviews have been favorable; those who have seen them mention their engaging, electrifying stage presence and Jessi Darlin’s ability to memorize a crowd with her unblinking stare – so make sure you get there early to catch their show.
Their latest release Screws Get Loose was released in March 2011. It was inspired by relationships while touring; getting wasted, lack of cash, freaking out on a plane and choosing food over sex. “Screws Get Loose” itself, Jessi says, was penned after a rare and frazzled two-week break which she decided to spend on her own, in New York City, where she wiled away days wandering avenues alone – liberating, since she wasn’t part of a group for a change.
