Movement 2014: After-Party Plans
|Paxahau consistently puts together amazing line-ups for the Movement festival: over 100 artists, 5 stages, 12 hours a day, 3 days. It’s incredible.
But wait, there’s more! The after-parties provide red-hot club experiences with the world’s best talent. There are lots of choices, and attendees are well advised to buy their tickets for these in advance. Not only does it assure access to parties that can sell-out, but you will definitely save a LOT of money by doing so. Tickets prices increase substantially at the door.
Sean has been part of our crew in Detroit each Memorial Day for years. Here is his analysis of the party opportunities found at movementafterparties.com :
FRIDAY
For those arriving on Friday, and ready to get the party started:
- Speedy J at The Works is a solid pick – no arguments there: residentadvisor.net/event.aspx?564374
- The Ghostly Intl party would be tempting but it’s at St Andrews – which while classic, suffers from poor ventilation and is not a venue we prefer
- Dan Bell & Mike Servito at TVLounge would be the classic Chicago/Detroit scene
SATURDAY
So many good options here:
- I think the hottest party hand’s down is TV Lounge’s Soul Clap’s House of eFunk: movementafterparties.com/soul-claps-house-of-efunk/
- Kill Frenzy could put a banger of a set on, but I don’t know anyone else on the billing: clubtix.com/country-club-disco-movement-official-tickets-297933
- CLR is also on the same day, but a new venue for them. This party is a classic and solid pick, and Marcel Dettmann can’t be beat sometimes – this party also starts earlier, so you could double-dip this with TV Lounge, like we often do: movementafterparties.com/clr-detroit-2014
- There’s also some SF-based deep house DJs spinning around Pink Skull, Droog, etc. at some other minor parties.
SUNDAY
- The Sunday night Interface party is a solid tradition, even though I’m sad I don’t see Raiz on the billing: residentadvisor.net/event.aspx?570372
- Flying Circus has a sick lineup (Audiofly, Visionquest, Mano le Tough + Dino & Garrett): residentadvisor.net/event.aspx?590670
- Country Club Disco has a lineup of the Dirtybird B-team, who’s still a solid lineup honestly. Justin Jay and Leeroy Peppers are no joke: clubtix.com/country-club-disco-movement-official-tickets-297933
- Ultimately though I think we need to end up at TV Lounge (goes till 10am) for Troxler, J Phlip, Martinez Brothers, Thugfucker & Peter Blick: movementafterparties.com/ok-cool-2/
- I also assume Old Miami is having their classic Monday morning party, but don’t see it listed anywhere.
Executive Summary:
Friday: Speedy J
Saturday: Soul Clap House of eFunk (maybe start with CLR if budget allows)
Sunday: Interface to start – TV Lounge to finish
